Ronald James Venner Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2026, at his home in Bayonne, NJ. Born on January 21, 1949, in Bayonne, he lived a life marked by dedication, love for family, and an unwavering commitment to service.

Ronald attended St. Andrew's Grammar School in Bayonne and St. Mary's High School in Jersey City.

Ronald proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard Aircraft Carrier during the Vietnam Era. His military service instilled in him a sense of duty and honor, values he carried with him throughout his life. After returning home, he attended Rutgers University in Jersey City and Jersey City State College. He pursued a career as an Operations Manager in the transportation industry, contributing many years to Selective Transportation in Keasbey, NJ.

Ronald was a lifelong resident of Bayonne and a devoted parishioner of St. John Paul II Parish of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bayonne, where he nurtured his faith and built lasting connections within the community. An avid reader and regular visitor to the Bayonne Public Library, he was known for his love of reading, drawing and art. He enjoyed taking long walks at the park with his beloved dog, Rudy, sharing stories with friends and family, and demonstrating his Kids' and Grandkids' school spirit at local events. His passion for street basketball was legendary among his peers, as he was a prolific player on Cottage Street.

With a spirit that embraced the simple pleasures in life, Ronald had a particular fondness for crabbing and vacationing in Maryland to eat blue crabs. He will be remembered not only for his vibrant personality and the gift of gab but also for the love and kindness he shared with those around him.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents George & Sonia Venner and his brothers, George Venner & William Venner.

Ronald is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Helen Venner (nee Jasinski); his children, Taryn Venner Ashe and her husband Frank, Ronald Venner and Cynthia Foust, and Jaclyn Casasnovas and her husband Nicholas; his sister, Linda Kurdyla; and his 9 grandchildren, Madeleine, Joseph, Liam, Dylan, Charlotte, Nicholas, Eloise, Siena, and Lily. He leaves behind many beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. The lives he touched through love, laughter, and friendship will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home, Bayonne NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:30am at St. John Paul II RC Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, Bayonne NJ. Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Project Purple, supporting pancreatic cancer research, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, honoring those who served.

Ronald James Venner Sr. leaves behind a rich legacy of love, community, and resilience, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
