Patricia Baran (née Aston) passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, in Jersey City, in the presence of her two devoted daughters. Her passing came just 45 days after the death of her beloved husband of 71 years, Donald "Red" Baran Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion.
Patricia leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, not only as the devoted mother of five children, but also as a successful entrepreneur. For many years, she proudly owned and operated a florist and bridal shop in Bayonne, where her creativity, and warmth left a lasting impression on her community.
Following her husband's retirement, Patricia moved to the Jersey Shore, where she became well known for her legendary Fourth of July celebrations overlooking the waterfront of her home.
Patricia was admired for her remarkable courage and tenacity. Throughout her life, she battled numerous illnesses with strength and determination, most notably overcoming Guillain-Barré syndrome, each challenge met with resilience, grace, and an unwavering will to live.
She is survived by her children Donald Baran Jr., Kim Marie Caiola, Patrice Esposito (Salvatore), and Scott Baran; her eleven cherished grandchildren; and nine adored great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Bernadette Sclafani (Anthony), along with many extended family members and friends.
Patricia is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband "Red," her son Brian Baran, her grandson Rocky Caiola, her parents Margaret and Edgar Aston, and her son-in-law Joseph Caiola, there is little doubt that heaven's celebration has been forever elevated by her presence.
While our family mourns the loss of both our mother and father in such a short span of time, we find comfort in knowing that the life they built together and the love they shared made them truly inseparable, both in this life and beyond. We remain deeply proud of them and will carry their enduring love for each other, and for our family, in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if donations were made in Patricia's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
