Osias Lucas Corrales, known affectionately as Ozzie to his friends, Papi and Pipiyo to his family, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, in Jersey City, NJ, at the age of 76. Born on July 8, 1948, in Laoag City, Philippines, Ozzie was a man whose warmth and jovial spirit brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
Ozzie's early years in the Philippines were filled with music and education. He studied Accounting at Far Eastern University, where his passion for numbers was only matched by his love for music. A talented musician, Ozzie played the guitar and saxophone with the joy and energy that became his signature throughout his life. His musical talents were first recognized in high school, and they remained a source of joy for him and those around him for many years.
In his professional life, Ozzie was as diligent and reliable as he was in his personal pursuits. He worked with Ayala Life Insurance Group of Companies in the Philippines and later as a customer service agent with Air Canada where he retired here in the US. He brought the same precision he used in accounting to every aspect of his life, ensuring that every detail was accounted for, every note in tune. His work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues and friends alike, and his guidance was sought by many who were drawn to his practical wisdom and good humor.
Ozzie's heart was truly revealed in his devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nenita, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure; their three wonderful children, Marlon, Albert, and Michelle, who inherited their father's kind spirit and zest for life; and his sister, Julia Aguirre, with whom he shared countless bouts of laughter. Ozzie was also a doting grandfather to Chloe and Mia, whose presence filled him with an indescribable joy that was evident to all who saw them together.
A man of many interests, Ozzie's love for travel saw him exploring new destinations, embracing different cultures, and making friends wherever he went. His infectious laugh could often be heard during family gatherings, where he was the undisputed king of karaoke. His renditions of classic songs, like Frank Sinatra's "My Way," were the highlight of any celebration as his rich baritone voice rang across the room. The world has lost a remarkable man in Osias Lucas Corrales, but his melody will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forever. He has left behind a treasure trove of moments filled with joy, music, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Ozzie's life was a beautiful composition, a symphony of the values he held dear: family, friendship, and the simple pleasure of a song well sung.
"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years," a sentiment famously expressed by Abraham Lincoln succinctly describes how Ozzie lived his life. He filled his years with vibrant experiences, deep connections, and a love for simple pleasures. We celebrate his extraordinary journey and the countless ways in which he enriched ours. His time on this earth may have come to a rest, but the echoes of his vibrant spirit will continue to fill the world with harmony and hope.
Please join us as we celebrate Ozzie’s incredible life on Friday, January 3, 4pm-8pm at the Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home, 691 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday 10:45 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 979 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
