It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michelina Zimbardo (nee Gerace), age 71, of Stratford, Connecticut, who departed this life on December 20, 2024. Born on November 18, 1953, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Michelina was a cherished daughter, devoted wife, beloved mother & grandmother, cherished sister, and dear friend to all who knew her. Michelina lived a life dedicated to her family. As a homemaker, she created a warm and nurturing environment for her loved ones, instilling values of compassion, kindness, and resilience in her children & her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and passing down family traditions. She was very fond of animals, especially her birds and grandpuppies. Michelina enjoyed music and singing in the Assumption Church Choir. She was also involved in the Azione Cattolica Italiana & the Christopher Columbus Committee of Bayonne. Michelina is pre-deceased by her father Raffaele Gerace; father-in-law, Vincenzo Zimbardo; and two in-laws, Domenico Sette, and James Zimbardo. She is survived by her mother Maria Teresa Gerace; beloved husband, Giuseppe Zimbardo; her three children, Vincent & his wife Meritxell Zimbardo, Kristina & her husband Dean Fracassini, and Nicolina & her husband Dennis Geary; six grandchildren, Luca and Nico Fracassini, Dixon and Emma Geary, Alessandro and Santiago Zimbardo; and five siblings, Teresa & Jeffrey Muller, Antonietta & Salvatore Tirro, Ralph & Raffaella Gerace, Rosemary Pantaleoni, & Josephine Gerace-Carter.
Also survived by her mother-in-law, Crocifissa Zimbardo; her in-laws, Angela Sette, Concetta Zimbardo, Ausilia & Chet Gurbisz, Mario Zimbardo, Jane & Mauro Diaz; five godchildren Franca Gerace Tamayo, Joe Ciancimino, Andrew Zimbardo, Vincent & Gianna Diaz; and many nieces & nephews. A very special thank you is extended to Linda Frank and Vitas Hospice team for providing such good care of Michelina. Her legacy of love will endure in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation will be held at Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home on December 22, 2024, from 2:00PM-6:00PM, where friends and family are invited to gather and share cherished memories of Michelina. In honor of her life and faith, a Mass will be celebrated at St. John Paul II RC Parish on December 23, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Following the Mass, a cryptside service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum at 12:15 PM, where we will lay her to rest with the love and dignity she so richly deserves. As we gather to celebrate Michelina's life, we reflect on the profound impact she had on all of us. Her spirit will forever live on in our hearts. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in these meaningful ceremonies to honor her memory and the love she shared with us all.
