It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Mattiello, who departed this life peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Bayonne, New Jersey, at the age of 95. Born on November 21, 1930, in Buonaventa, Italy, Marie emigrated to America in 1935, embarking on a journey that would lead her to build a loving and devoted family.
Marie was a cherished mother and grandmother, whose unwavering love for her children and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of her life. She is survived by her children, Ralph and his wife Debra, Joseph, Patrick and his wife Debby, John and his wife Michele, Maria & her late husband Nicolo Anastasi, and Vincent & his wife Jane.
As a proud matriarch, Marie took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Sarah (Daniel), Nicholas, Nicholas Patrick, Christopher, Dana, Morgan (Sean), Vincent Jr., and Reagan, and as a great-grandmother to Jake and Julia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mattiello; her parents, Pasquale & Pasqualina Tirino, and her siblings, Rosina Tirino and Frank Tirino.
Her family was her greatest treasure, and they will forever remember her warm spirit and generous heart.
An avid reader, Marie found comfort in literature and spent many hours immersed in books. She was known for her remarkable resilience and unparalleled dedication, walking everywhere she could, embodying a life of vigor and purpose.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM in Caiola - Stellato Funeral Home, Bayonne NJ. Mass will be held in her honor at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on the same day. Entombment, Holy Name Cemetery & Mausoleum, Jersey City NJ.
