Donald "Red" Baran, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Waretown, NJ on November 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. Born in Bayonne in 1934, Red was widely known for his respected roofing contracting business-an enduring legacy that continues today under the leadership of his grandson, Brian Baran Jr.
After retiring, Red moved from his beloved Bayonne to the Jersey Shore, where he embraced a quieter life. Always active, he could still be found until just a few weeks ago, at the local Moose lodge, playing shuffleboard alongside friends and his devoted brother, Kenny Baran.
Red leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Baran (née Aston), and his children Donald Baran Jr., Kim Marie Caiola, Patrice Esposito (Salvatore), and Scott Baran. He built a powerful family legacy through his eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a part of his story forward. There is no doubt his life will continue to be remembered and retold for generations.
Proud of his service to our nation, Red was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was also an active member of numerous charitable organizations, and the family knows he would be honored by donations made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Red now reunites in eternal peace with his son Brian Baran, his grandson Rocky Caiola, his brothers Frank and George, and his parents Frank and Martha Baran and son-in-law Joseph Caiola- a gathering we can only imagine is filled with joy and laughter.
Our family is profoundly grateful for Red's remarkable life. His dedication, his work ethic, and his unwavering love for his country and family built the foundation on which we all stand today. Those who knew and loved him will carry his memory forever.
