It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles N. Bowling, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us on November 26, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on December 8, 1932 in Union City, NJ, Charlie grew up in Teaneck, later moving to Jersey City and eventually Bayonne. He dedicated his life to his family, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. After returning home, he attended Villanova University on the GI Bill and pursued a successful career in accounting and finance with several companies. He finally retired from Global Terminal as their CFO. He also made a significant impact on all those he encountered as a mentor and executive who led by example and treated everyone with kindness and compassion.
He made many sacrifices for his family and enjoyed being heavily involved in his children's lives and helping others when no one was looking.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie Bowling, and his caring children: Beth & her husband Gregg Carter, James & his wife Dorothy, Robert & his wife Monica, and Brian & his wife Diane. Charlie's spirit will also live on through his cherished grandchildren: Sean, Erin, Kathleen, Michael, Brendan, Andrew, Savanna, Lauren, and Lindsey, as well as his great-grandchildren Alexander, Decker, and Miles.
As we remember Charlie, all family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30AM – 11AM at the Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home, 691 Avenue C, Bayonne. This will be followed by a celebration of his life. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
May he find eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the love he so freely gave.
