Antonio Destito

Antonio Destito, 80, of Bayonne, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on January 28, 1946, in Cenadi, Catanzaro, Italy, Antonio carried with him the values of hard work, family, and tradition throughout his life. He eventually made Bayonne his home, where he built a life filled with love, dedication, and lasting friendships.

Antonio was the beloved husband of Elisabetta Destito. He was a devoted father to his son, Vito Destito, and his wife, Melissa, and his daughter, Caterina Destito. His greatest joy was being “Nonno” to his cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Emily, and Anthony, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life.

A skilled bricklayer by trade, Antonio later retired from the Bayonne Board of Education after many years of dedicated service. He took great pride in everything he did and was respected for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others.

Antonio found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially making homemade wine—a tradition that connected him to his Italian roots and brought family and friends together around the table. He treasured time spent with those he loved and created countless memories that will be cherished for generations.

Antonio will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the traditions he passed down, and the love he shared so freely.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
